Remote Sensing and Digital Image Analysis

Research profile

Land use and land use change, particularly the transformation of natural ecosystems and the intensification of agricultural production, are one of the main drivers of global change. In this context, Earth observation systems, as a key technology, provide crucial information about the Earth's surface, especially in the context of sustainable land use, precision agriculture, and environmental monitoring.

The research activities and results of the Remote Sensing Research Group focus on the utilization of various remote sensing data sources (e.g., multi- and hyperspectral, SAR, LiDAR from satellites and UAVs) and the adaptation of advanced machine learning methods. The generated Earth observation products can contribute to an enhanced understanding of the human-environment system. Consequently, there are various points of connection within FZ IUSF.
